Dr. Ellis addressing the faculty.

Dr. David Ellis gives a presentation to the Schoolcraft College faculty.

Technology and the Future of Healthcare

David Ellis
Corporate Director of Planning and Future Studies

David Ellis will explain how the acceleration of computing capability underpins innovation in healthcare technologies which in turn drives key megatrends towards automation and robotics, patient self-care, telemedicine and globalization, and ultimately the end of chronic disease. He will discuss the implications of these megatrends, including the end of the hospital as we know it and the need for early and radical change in medical education and research, and illustrate by reference to the Detroit Medical Center how one major academic medical center is responding in practice to the threats and opportunities presented by the accelerating healthcare megatrends.

This session was offered during Faculty Professional Development Days.
