Arrival/Welcome Reception
February 21, 2007

Right after Pat Cline and I arrived at the conference, we took a walk around campus. As part of our walk, we went to special collections at the library where I had the chance to say “Hello” to Dr. Peter Berg. Dr. Berg and I attended graduate school together. Later, I walked around campus and East Lansing by myself.

The evening reception for the LAND conference is a time to become reacquainted with colleagues whom I only see about once a year. It also gives a change to meet new people.

One of the disappointments is that more people do not attend this reception. Many people drive up after work on Wednesday and might not arrive in time. Other people do not come to the conference until Thursday morning. However, I did see people around the hotel who did not attend the reception.

I cannot be too harsh in my criticism because I did not attend “Creative Expressions” which was held on Thursday evening. After a day of seminars, I was too tired and just needed to be alone.
