Film (ENG 200)
Winter 2007

Student Comments

  • The response in this class was slower than most, but was understandable with the amount of work the professor had taken on with the other faculty and personal life.1

  • Grading was often behind schedule, though it appears as though circumstances caused that. It didn’t result in a problem for me, but it would’ve been a terrible situation if I’d gotten a poor grade on several of my papers because I turned them in before I had any feedback from previous papers.

  • The class was a joke. There was not one bit of teaching from Dr. Berg. Not one bit! And there was zero feedback as to the quality of our work. Don’t you ever audit your courses?2

  • I want to thank Dr. Berg for all his support and attention to detail and how he presented the class even in a time of crisis. He handled the adversity very well and I think he makes an excellent teacher. I truly appreciate all he has done to advance my educational success.

  • I was extremely disappointed in this class, namely with Professor Berg’s teaching. Most of the grade is based on writing assignments, but so far this semester (and there are less than three weeks left) I have not received any personal feedback on my writing or anything else. For all I know, I am submitting my work to a robot. Additionally, it seems to take at least a month for Professor Berg to grade anything, even a measly 3-page paper. I am under the distinct impression that this film class is way, way down on his list of priorities—I think he’s even forgotten about us a couple of times. I would never recommend this class to anybody, and if fact, I am telling everybody I know how bad a professor Mr. Berg is. I understand that he may be busy with other things, or have too heavy of a classload, but that shouldn’t be my problem, because I have to pay the same no matter what. I am not saying all of this because I am mad at him for giving me a bad grade or something like that. I am a 4.0 student and have a 4.0 in his class. I like school, especially English, but Professor Berg is truly one of the worst teachers I’ve ever had. The only thing I learned in his class was how to cut corners!

1Mid-semester, one of my colleagues was diagnosed with brain cancer and I added two of his classes to my course load. Then, about two weeks later, I suffered a TIA which is also know as a mini-stroke.
