Analyze "Martin Luther King.org"

A calling card sized advertisement for www.martinlutherking.org.

As a way to “Bring the dream alive in your town!” Martin Luther King.org designed this business card sized advertisement with the intent that idividuals would download if from their web site and distribute it at their school.

The website is closely associated with Stormfront, an organization whose mission it is “to provide information not available in the controlled news media and to build a community of White activists working for the survival of our people.”

On 6 November 2005, Floyd Cochran visited Schoolcraft College and spoke about how the KKK recruits young people and spreads their message of racism and hate. As part of his message, Cochran pointed out how hate groups are getting more sophisticated in their recruitment.

We can continue the dialogue about hate speech by analyzing “Martin Luther King.org.” At first glance, the web site looks polished and credible. However, using a rubric for evaluating web page content which was developed by Dr. Jeremy Hall, students are able to realize the ways in which Martin Luther King.org is not credible.
